Mark, Fiona & Laura would like to offer a massive “thank you to you all for all your help and support during our first year of trading and making the Love Yarn’s 1st birthday celebration such a success.
Special thanks to Becky, Tom & Scarlet for their hard work on Saturday; we couldn’t have done it without you guys!
From the start, our aim has been to ignite your passion to get involved in all aspects of knitting and related crafts and support you through your chosen project. Also, perhaps inspire you to try something new and creative such as decopatch.
We really hope to be able to extend our service in year 2 with a fully functioning on-line experience. We aim to provide not only the ability to shop and book courses at the website but also a hive of activity with forums and some really helpful resources. Of course, we will keep you updated as soon as new exciting features are added.
Again, a big Thank You to you all for making Love Yarn’s first year such a success.
Decopatch paper is easily applied to any kind of surface and is the only paper which produces a smooth texture and real paint effect. Decopatch paper is deep-dyed and glazed. It will not break apart when glued, and the colours will never fade or run. You can use decopatch papers to give a piece of furniture, vase or mirror a new lease of life or come and choose from the ready to decopatch animals and decorations we have in stock.
We have also put together decopatch starter kits which include everything you need to start your first project.
Follow the links below to see a short video of decopatch in action:
The Love Yarn move is complete (except for the usual assistance from BT) and we would just like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone that helped and made this possible and fun on what seemed like the hottest few days of the year. I have to say that we did not think that the move would go so smoothly and this thought was the cause of a few anxious moments (& sleepless nights) over the last few weeks but with the help of our friends it went like a dream.
The new shop is double the size of the original with a separate workshop/classroom and we would like to welcome everyone along to enjoy the full yarn experience at unit 133 The Commercial Centre (below Quilter’s Dream). We are now on the ground floor so much more visible and easier to access, so no more stairs (hooray)!
In no particular order we would like to say a special thanks to:
Elaine,& Jess
Becky, Mike, Oscar & Alfie
Laura & Chris

Guys, we could not have done this without all your hard work and support.
A big thank you to Becky for the Magic Loop sock course on Sunday, which I have to say, was one of the best courses so far at Love Yarn. We all learnt some great techniques and boy, once we got going they grew really quickly. Turningthe heal was fab as we turned the heal and shaped for the foot all at the same time, no need to pick up stitches yeh! . I think that everyone had an enjoyable time and hope that we will all go on to use what we learnt in many projects in the future.
If anyone else would like to join the next course then please give me a call (01264 357333) or send me an email (fiona@loveyarn.com) and if there is enough interest I am sure that Becky would be kind enough to come and teach us again.
We had a great time on Sunday at the Winchester Arts and Craft Market. It was good to meet so many new people and I hope that we helped to inspire you with some of our knitting and craft ideas. The new Loopy yarn from Rico was a great success and I hope that all of those who bought a ball are already wearing a stylish new summer scarf.
The next Arts and Craft Market is on the 15th May and we look forward to seeing you there.
We are planning to run some new courses at Love Yarn including, Magic Loop Socks, Professional Finishing, & Felting. They will all be a day long course (10am to 4pm) and on a Sunday to help fit in with busy working lives. For details on the courses please visit the following link (loves to learn) and for information or booking, please either telephone (01264 386333) or send me an email (Fiona@loveyarn.com). Courses generally get booked up quite quickly so please feel free to contact me soon to register your interest or book a place.
Tonight was the first week of our learn to crochet class at Love Yarn, courtesy of Gill.
It was a fun night and everyone seemed to get on well with the trebles and making a square, although I rebelled slightly and did a little crocheting as I would knit!
I am now encouraging my left hand to work with my right hand, let’s hope they work together in harmony.A big thank you to Gill for teaching us the skills of this great craft activity.
Thanks again to Heather for another fantastic course. We even came to grips with sowing up our garments and are now fully equipped to achieve a really professional finish ; so no excuses for multiple UFO’s!
It was sad that a couple of the gang could not make it due to illness (get well soon guys) and we hope to repeat the Professional Finishing course soon so that everyone can benefit and improve their technique. If anyone else would like to join the next course then please give me a call (01264 357333) or send me an email (fiona@loveyarn.com).
Just a quick update to let you all know that we are running a learn to crochet course at Love Yarn.
The course will be spread over 3 evenings (28th March 4th April and 11th April) the cost is £20 (teas & Coffee provided). Places are limited so please contact us to book your place.
We enjoyed a really interesting and rewarding course on Sunday at Love Yarn, courtesy of Heather Esswood (Rowan Consultant), to learn the techniques of using colour to achieve really professional results.
I really enjoyed making a lovely gift for my husband, every stitch a labour of love, and it might go some way to making up for arranging the course on the date of our second wedding anniversary! It wasn’t too serious though, as I still had a fantastic three course meal, candles, flowers and all made for me at the end of the day.
If any of the girls who attended the course would like to send me some images of their creations then I would really like to post them on the blog for everyone to admire. Please feel free to email them to me or pop into the shop and we will take a photograph.
Our Sunday workshops so far have been a great success and a rewarding experience for everyone and the next one, Professional Finishing Techniques on the 13th March is already full.
We aim to offer this type of workshop on a Sunday on a monthly basis (subject to demand) and would like to hear your views on the subjects that are of interest to you from the following list. Based on the level of response, we will try to secure a courses going forward for the most popular subjects. By the way, we have an evening course on Learn to Crochet (3 evenings) in the pipeline, so if this is of interest to you thenplease emailFiona@loveyarn.comfor details.
Love Yarn Limited opened in September 2010 and our aim is to provide a fantastic selection of yarns (something for every price range) and whole host knitting accessories but above all in a friendly and helpful environment.
In addition to our already extensive range of yarns, Spring/Summer has just arrived at Love Yarn.We wait with anticipation for the new Rico Loopy scarf yarn. We are told that it will be in short supply so keep an eye on the website for details. We want to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get involved, be inspired and enjoy the pleasure of creating something beautiful, be it a simple scarf a pair of socks, a felted bag or a complex garment; something to really be proud of.
We want to take inspiration to the next level and provide a number of things to help us achieve this aim. We have regular knit and natter sessions in the evenings (if anyone is interested then please call to book your place) where everyone can benefit from the help and advice of others and above all have fun.
We have regular professional courses(usually on a Sunday) where you can learn new techniques, related crafts and how to get that professional finish. The forthcoming courses can be found on our website, just follow the “Love to Learn” tab at the top of the screen.
Its early days yet but we already have a fantastic and ever growing group of friends (they are customers but to be honest they are more like friends) who come in for advice, get inspiration from the latest patterns, samples and yarns, and of course purchase what they need to get the next project underway.
Equally, they may just drop in for a chat, a cup of tea, and to do some knitting; I guess that it is the mix and match of all these things that is Love Yarn!
Our website is in its infancy but you will be able to get a flavour of what we are about.
We aim to have a full shopping experience available on the web soon (with free postage on all orders over £15) so please visit us often or email us your contact details to receive regular updates of things that are new.
We are really grateful to all our customers for their continued support that makes Love Yarn possible and such a pleasure to be involved with. In return we will continue to strive to provide the best products, ideas and service that keep the mutual enjoyment alive.
If you have not yet sampled the Love Yarn experience then please do not hesitate to get in touch or visit us soon; you will always be made to feel very welcome.
